Smoke billows from battle area…epa01734588 A Sri Lankan Army handout image supplied 18 May 2009 shows smoke billow from what the army says was the last refuge of the Tamil Tigers or Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), which was the government declared ‘No Fire Zone’ for civilians held hostage by the outfit, at Karayamullivaikkal in Mullaitivu, 412 km north-east of Colombo, Sri Lanka. The final battle was fought in the Mullaitivu area on 17 May. According to army sources, the entire Tamil Tiger leadership was killed by a special unit of the Sri Lankan army early 18 May.
